Start by defining the sale

For some stores, WhatsApp supports a sale that already happened in Shopify. For others, the conversation is where the sale begins: a buyer asks about a size, browses products and needs help getting to checkout. Those two jobs overlap, but the team and workflow behind them can be very different.

That distinction is more useful than asking which product has more features. WhatFlow and Zoko should be evaluated against the part of the customer journey you want to improve first.

Zoko's commerce positioning

Zoko's website describes a Shopify-focused WhatsApp platform with a shared inbox, campaigns, catalog synchronization and automated flows. It also advertises AI agents for order questions and checkout recovery. If your objective is to sell through conversations, these are relevant capabilities to examine in a live demonstration.

Do not assume every catalog experience behaves identically. Ask to see a product with variants, an unavailable item and a price change. Confirm where the buyer ultimately checks out and where the team manages the resulting order.

WhatFlow's operational starting point

The WhatFlow demo app presents event-specific automations inside Shopify. An order confirmation, fulfillment message or checkout reminder starts with a configured event and a template. The template editor exposes the Shopify values used in the message rather than leaving the data handoff implicit.

For a store whose sales process already works, that may be the right scope for an initial project. You can evaluate the customer update without treating it as a replacement for the entire sales conversation.

The catalog test I would request

Choose a product with two sizes and limited stock. Ask the seller to show how an agent finds it, how the customer chooses a variant and how stock or price changes appear. Continue until the Shopify order exists. Then ask what happens if the buyer never completes payment.

This is especially useful when assessing Zoko's commerce proposition. It also clarifies whether you actually need catalog-led selling today or simply want a useful product image and recovery link in a notification.

Keep order support in the evaluation

Even a successful catalog sale creates later questions: delivery timing, address changes and returns. Ask who answers those questions, which order details they can see and what actions they are allowed to take. A convenient selling experience is only part of the operational cost.

For WhatFlow, verify the event messages and support handoff you intend to use. For Zoko, evaluate how the commerce inbox fits your existing support ownership. Avoid making the fulfillment team discover a second order process after launch.

Choosing a first project

If conversational selling is the goal, evaluate Zoko on that complete experience. If your immediate pain is missed order updates or manual confirmations, put WhatFlow through a focused workflow trial. The best first project is one your team can explain, maintain and measure without relying on the person who ran the sales demo.

Questions worth asking

Is Zoko built for Shopify?

Zoko describes its product as a WhatsApp platform for Shopify brands, including catalog, inbox, campaign and automation capabilities.

Do I need a WhatsApp catalog for order updates?

Not necessarily. A message containing order details and a useful link is a different requirement from browsing and selecting products inside a conversation.
