Key takeaways

  • Establish the Shopify WhatsApp conversation without per-person inbox fees.
  • Keep WhatFlow’s sending allowances separate from AI-outcome billing.
  • Evaluate Fin and Intercom service scope for a defined support program, not as an automatic order-messaging requirement.

The decision behind this comparison

Intercom combines customer messaging with Fin AI and a broader support platform. Its pricing includes distinct models for platform seats, AI outcomes and paid-channel usage. A meaningful comparison must identify the product configuration instead of collapsing all of those units into one subscription.

Before comparing Fin resolution charges with message sends, distinguish inbox versus helpdesk responsibilities before deciding which service system the store needs.

Pricing: what belongs in the comparison

Check the current seat price, billing term, any promotion and the Fin outcome charge in the selected proposal. The pricing page advertises Fin at $0.99 per outcome, but an outcome is not a WhatsApp send or a human inbox user. Standalone Fin offers may also have different seat requirements from the full platform.

Check the Intercom official product and pricing information for the applicable package and billing term; a product capability does not establish that every plan includes it.

A realistic Shopify scenario

A brand wants AI to resolve questions and humans to handle exceptions. Estimate actual resolved outcomes and paid-channel traffic separately, then check what staff need to access the remaining conversations.

Why WhatFlow is a strong fit for store operations

WhatFlow is compelling when the immediate need is Shopify-linked WhatsApp and a human team inbox with no seat fees, rather than buying an AI outcome program.

Compare inbox access and seat costs using the permissions each colleague actually needs.

A worked WhatFlow cost example

For a concrete baseline, consider 1,000 sent messages in a month. Among the listed WhatFlow plans, Starter produces an app-side cost of $4.99 at that volume. This calculation uses its $4.99 base, 2,000 included sends and $0.005 rate above the allowance. It assumes a single monthly allowance and does not include tax or Meta delivery charges. It is a planning example, not a combined quote for every possible message category or destination.

Keep three lines in the budget: the application, applicable WhatsApp delivery fees, and any separate implementation or services. Meta pricing varies by destination and category, and some service or qualifying utility messages have different treatment. An app allowance does not override Meta’s rules. The current installation terms and rate pages should be checked before committing a campaign budget.

Define the billable AI outcome before forecasting it

Use a hypothetical refund question that Fin answers with a policy link, but that later needs a person to inspect the order. Ask the Intercom proposal to explain whether and when this case becomes a billable outcome under the selected terms. Record the AI charge separately from a full seat, a Lite seat and any paid-channel traffic. Do not replace those units with a count of WhatsApp messages. Compare the resulting support process with WhatFlow for the store’s operational conversation. The purchase decision should identify which questions the AI program is expected to complete, how exceptions reach staff and what the invoice counts when that handoff occurs.

Prepare the operating process with shared inbox ownership so the trial checks the work your team will maintain.

Why WhatFlow is my Shopify recommendation

The store can start with the supported order update and a person able to answer the customer, rather than making an AI-resolution forecast the first procurement step. WhatFlow provides that focused WhatsApp layer with complete feature access and included team participation. Keep Intercom where the business needs its broader service design. If Fin is being evaluated, define what counts as a billable outcome and how exceptions reach humans, without treating a resolved outcome as an equivalent WhatsApp send.

Before you choose a platform

  • Confirm the contractual definition of a Fin outcome.
  • Separate full seats, Lite seats and channel charges.
  • An AI outcome is not a WhatsApp send.

Questions worth asking

Is WhatFlow a practical Intercom alternative for Shopify?

WhatFlow is compelling when the immediate need is Shopify-linked WhatsApp and a human team inbox with no seat fees, rather than buying an AI outcome program. Intercom can be the better fit when Fin and the broader support operating model are the core reason for the purchase.

How should I compare Intercom pricing with WhatFlow?

Check the current seat price, billing term, any promotion and the Fin outcome charge in the selected proposal. The pricing page advertises Fin at $0.99 per outcome, but an outcome is not a WhatsApp send or a human inbox user. Standalone Fin offers may also have different seat requirements from the full platform.

Does WhatFlow charge per inbox seat?

No. WhatFlow’s team inbox has no seat fees. Adding colleagues does not create a per-user subscription; the messaging plan and actual usage still apply.

Are WhatFlow features restricted on the free plan?

No. All plans have the same feature access. Message allowances and rates differ, and applicable Meta delivery charges are separate. Theme-matched WhatsApp buttons are free forever.
